BEST RESTAURANTS

Talea by Antonio Guida

No one does understated sophistication quite like the Italians. This beautiful Italian restaurant at the Emirates Palace, which is under the direction of chef Antonio Guida who made and cemented his reputation in Milan, celebrates family-style – or ‘cucina di famiglia’ – cooking. Dishes may appear quite simple but the flavours are exhilarating. Purity and vibrancy are evident in sublime pasta dishes like maccheroncelli alla Genovese; turbot with Mediterranean guazzetto; and the tiramisu, which is made right in front of you.

Hooked

A cuisine inspired by the coastal influences of the Levant, using the freshest ingredients to offer the best seafood experience.

Hakkasan

Regulars of this exclusive international brand will instantly recognise the sultry and chic oriental décor within this branch, located within the Emirates Palace hotel. All the time-honoured classics are on the menu, like Peking duck, Chilean sea bass with honey and, on Saturday lunchtimes, their celebrated dim sum, all prepared with enormous skill. There are also plenty of lighter dishes available, so don’t be surprised to see quinoa rather than jasmine rice. Service is knowledgeable and engaging and the atmosphere vibrant and buzzing.

Villa Toscana

Panzanella, ribollita, cacciucco alla Livornese, pappa al pomodoro – as you’d expect from the name, you can find many a classic Tuscan dish here at Villa Toscana in the St. Regis hotel. Add in familiar favourites and plenty of pizzas and you have a menu with something for everyone. The restaurant has a subtle masculine feel with a calm and easy manner.

Dusk

Colorful, quirky and playful, Dusk is the perfect place to spend an evening with your friends over innovative tapas of Parmesan cheese cup, dynamite guacamole tacos or indulge in a refined ceviche.

Oak Room

Dressed like a smart London club, all wood and leather – but with the music turned up loud – Oak Room is all about meat. Steaks, largely from the USA and Australia, come in various cuts and are accompanied by a large selection of sides; don’t miss the triple cooked chips. Sunday roasts are popular and there’s a wide variety of other dishes on offer too, from fish and chips to burgers.

Finz

Eating seafood by the sea – there aren’t many things in life that can beat it. At Finz the fish and shellfish come in a variety of styles to suit all tastes, so if you want to feel you’re holidaying on the Med you can order fruits de mer or moules marinières, while those who prefer a more Asian theme can try the tempura roll or teriyaki salmon. The charming service is another delight here.

Zuma

Gliding down the softly lit staircase allows everyone to feel like they’re about to arrive at the best party in town – this really is Fun Central, with the music to prove it. As with all other Zuma branches around the globe, the menu covers a multitude of Japanese bases, with seafood from the robata grill being the standout, although the signature corn-fed baby chicken rightly has many admirers too.

Ginger Mermaid

Vibe with friends on a king-size day bed as you banter over a Hendrick’s infused popsicle and a wasabi beef & rocket slider.

Inventive, thirst-quenching concoctions are served large enough to share, encouraging entertainment under the Island sun.

Coya

Whether you like your Peruvian flavours complemented with Japanese, Chinese or Spanish influences, you’ll find you have plenty of options. Ceviche is always a great choice to begin, while the ‘Chilean sea bass rice iron pot’ is a popular signature dish. Several elegant dining rooms provide a colourful stage for the vibrant food, while the floor to ceiling windows make the most of the waterfront location. The set lunch menu is always good value.

Smokin' Pineapple

One-of-a kind beach club featuring hammock jungle, swings bar, pineapple shape pizza oven, a surf pool and much more.

Explore amazing food, relaxing afternoons on the beach or the wildest island parties.

Butcher & Still

Those who like a classic steakhouse will find this one at the luxurious Four Seasons ticks all the boxes. Leather banquettes? Check. Prime American beef? Check. Great cocktails? Check. Start with the generously proportioned crab cake before diving into a steak – there are plenty on offer, from ribeye to porterhouse. To finish, there’s New York cheesecake of course, but the more adventurous should take on the challenge of the Tribune Tower chocolate cake.

Cipriani

Elegance and style are hallmarks of all Cipriani restaurants and Abu Dhabi’s branch of this well-known international group occupies an appropriate glamourous position overlooking Yas Island Marina, with a beautiful terrace to make the most of the great views.  There are Japanese dishes available, but Italian is really the way to go here – and they offer all the classics, from carpaccio to cannoli.

Frangipani

Rustic-chic vibe and a flexible, elegantly simple menu, this is what Frangipani is all about.

Relax amongst neutral tones and brass accents representing artisanal and organic trade.
