Sheldon Chalet began as a vision of legendary glacier pilot Don Sheldon to share the awe-inspiring Denali “wonderland” with the world. Today this is only possible because he strategically filed for a land patent. Sheldon Chalet took 3 years to build and is based on the historic Mountain House and Don's 1968 recovered blueprints. The result is a one-of-a-kind property that allows you to enter a world that few have the opportunity to explore.

This luxury chalet rental in Alaska spans 2000 SqFt and is perched on a rocky glacier outcropping, or nunatak, in the Don Sheldon Amphitheater, just 10 miles from the summit. Inside, guests find a living, dining, and kitchen area, featuring a special Finnish fireplace that doubles as a clean-combustion heating system. The family-style dining space is built around a birchwood table handcrafted in Talkeetna. The spacious rooms are graciously designed with faux fur throws and panoramic views from every angle.

Each of the five bedrooms faces the mountains and is luxuriously appointed. Guests share 2.5 bathrooms due to the need to save water. The amenities at Sheldon Chalet include an observation deck, helipad, viewing area, and sauna with summit views. During aurora season, from mid-September through early March, days can be spent “flightseeing” around the national park, snowshoeing, ski touring, mountain guides and access to private glacier.
